i've finally decided to join the 21st century by getting a music player at the bottom of the page.  it plays all austin may songs in a random order (you can turn off random by clicking the "s").  as for everything else, i'm working on getting all the kinks worked out and finishing the overhaul of the site.  html/web design is not really my thing and i can be a little slow but i still try to do a good job with it.

i'm very sorry to say that the show tonight in wichita at the artichoke sandwich bar was cancelled.  my car broke down outside of omaha on saturday night and has left me stranded in a motel until tomorrow morning :(.  but other than that, the tour was great!  thanks so much to everyone that came out and supported me; i really appreciate it!  next show (and last one for a while) will be at mars cafe in des moines.  it's a scented vinyl show.  see you there!

20 something is officially released and available to download, and at no cost!  so go ahead and download it and start listening to it!  it's quite comprehensive, but that's why it's split up onto three volumes.  also, the album release party is at the vaudeville mews tonight in des moines.  i'll be playing with danny heggen, sam knutson and american catastrophe.  it should be an amazing show!  after that it's springfield, davenport, minneapolis, omaha, wichita and then back to des moines.  also, since i'm giving 20 something away, all i ask is that if you like it, let me know.  write a review of the album, or just one volume, or just one song.  let me know your thoughts.  and if you are a student and have an english class, see if that can pass as a writing assignment.  all reviews, comments and criticism will be posted on this site!  so please let me know what you think and get your comments and opinions heard.  thanks, and i'll see you on the road! :)

i had an unexpected show on saturday, march 1.  one of the bands scheduled to play at the vaudeville mews cancelled and i filled in for them.  there was not a whole lot of promotion to have taken place since i only knew about the show a few hours before it happened.  but still, i'm really really looking forward to the show/album release party on march 4.  it's going to be a ton of fun!!  and seriously, you'd better be there because it's going to be a rocking show!

happy leap day!  we'll all have to wait until 2012 for the next february 29.  new show added for march 7 at the red sea bar in minneapolis, minnesota.  that show pretty much rounds out and completes the 20 something tour!  i'm really excited for it, and hopefully a lot of other people are too.  i can't wait to see you on the road!  also, there are some new links posted, so check them out.

like i promised, new updates every day until the release of 20 something on march 4.  it takes a long time to update an entire site so i'm doing a little every night.  the album is basically finished and i'm just doing some minor editing and mixing and putting the final touches on before it gets released to the world.  i still need help with a show on march 7th or 9th if anyone could help me out.

happy belated new year!  it's going to be the best one so far.  awesome show coming up this friday at the house of bricks.  read all about it, and if you want to come (seriously though, it's going to be amazing) it's $10 at the door, or $7 is you buy a ticket from me.  i'm very accessible in the des moines/west des moines area so we can meet up and exchange money/tickets.  or there's always paypal!  if you order your ticket through paypal it will be available on will-call and of course you still get the $7 price.  and bonus, anyone who buys a ticket from me get a free cd.  all the more reason to show up on a friday night in east village and have fun.  i'm looking forward to seeing everyone there!

the show last week went great.  i'm just working on tying up some loose ends from 2007 and getting ready for the new one.  there's a lot on the table so hopefully i can turn it into some good.  two shows coming up in january, and then after that, more new music, more shows, more everything.  merry xmas (if that's your thing).  nothing like joining in on the madness of shopping to slightly boost the economy but set us all a little further into debt.  how exciting!  but seriously, happy holidays!

the show that was supposed to happen on november 27 was cancelled. :(  but we've got a few more coming up soon!  this friday at vaudeville mews again.  we'll be playing with if ever was a fire (from ames, ia) and tie these hands (from lincoln, ne).  it should be a lot of fun so we hope to see everyone there!

some news!  my new and upcoming album is slowly getting finished, song by song.  and anyone can listen to it for free!  it's linked in the links sections and the first song is posted, and the second song will be up soon.  and i have my first show in des moines since moving here on november 27 at vaudeville mews opening up for baby birds don't drink milk.  i hope to meet a lot of new people there.

not a whole lot of news.  i've been working very hard on some new music for my upcoming album which will be titled chemistry.  it's set to be released on sleep on the floor on july 03 of this year.  i'll be updating the site with more info about the album once things start getting finalized so check back often.

i believe i've finally gotten this site updated enough and organized for the time being.  i've got a lot planned for 2007 and i think it's going to be a really good year musically.  i hope to be playing more shows and releasing a couple of cds.  so check back often as new information on the upcoming album unfolds and more shows are added.

i've been working all day trying to fix up this site a little and i suppose i'm finally done for now.  the music section is getting better but it's still kind of unorganized.  other than that it's just been little changes here and there with the layout and such.  if you're an itunes loving hipster than you may be interested to know that my music is available there.  it always has been, but i kept forgetting to post the link to it from here.  oh, and happy new year.  i hope it's a good one.

i'm back in the good old city of york.  my stay out in iowa was fabulous.  i got a lot of work done on the new album, but it's still going to be a while before it's ready.  and i played a couple of shows in des moines with some very excellent bands (kunek from stillwater, ok, kedda from ames, ia and hot iqs from denver, co).  i've got another show coming up in december in york with jereme stewart.  i plan on writing a lot more about my time in the midwest, but just not right now.

there's a flyer for the show this saturday posted in the pictures section.  it's going to be amazing, but also my last show in this area for a while.  i'll be moving out to adel, iowa for a month or two to work on my next record.  i can't wait to start on it as i have a ton of good songs and ideas to start recording.  but i will be back and playing regularly in the york area again in december.  and, i've been working with an incredible bassist named cassie.  so for future shows expect to see her playing as well.  her email is in the contact section.  see everyone on saturday!

last friday at sparky & clark's with ryan peters went great.  the severe rain stopped a lot of people from coming i think, but i still had a real good time.  christopher hall is playing at the show this friday at beyond coffee, along with monroe and me.  it's my first time playing there so it should be pretty amazing.  see you there.

the new ep, "in theory," is finished and released.  right now it's only going to be available from me at shows, but eventually i'll make all the songs downloadable or something.  the mp3s for three of the songs are posted in the music section.  and as for now i'm not pressing any copies, i'm just burning them onto cd-rs.  the show on sunday at summer's was really great.  thanks to everyone who came out, and to monroe for putting it together.

the show i had coming up at g & m music in shrewsbury was cancelled.  i don't know why, but they're not putting on any more shows for a while.  so instead i'm playing at summer's (a snowball stand) in stewartstown on the 23rd.  it should be awesome.  monroe and repercussions of a good thing are also playing.  there's more info in the tour section.  and some more good news.  the ep i'm working on (currently untitled) is nearly complete.  the release date is july 25, and the track list and lyrics are posted.  mp3s coming very soon.

i started working on recording some new songs.  it's going to be an all acoustic ep, and it should be finished pretty soon.  the title and track list is still up in the air, but i should have some mp3s posted in the next week or two.  and i'm booking a lot of tour dates in the fall, so if you can help to set something up let me know!

i finally got around to posting the lyrics to all the songs so far.  and i posted the mp3 for "tomorrow."  i've been working on some new songs for my next album, but i'm pretty sure i'm going to start over and redo everything.  so there won't be any new songs for a while.

the sampler/compilation cd, titled "oasis alternative vol. vi number 2," is out and is being distributed to college and independent radio stations all across the us and i posted the track listing in the music section.  i added a press section for the reviews i've been getting for my music.  and alina simone (from carrboro, nc) will also be playing at the show in york on april 15th.  i believe that is everything for now, but i'm very close on having some new songs finished.  and when i do i will post the mp3s.

there is much going on right now but most of it is still in the works.  i have a show coming up in april with my friend carol bui from washington, dc.  she's very amazing so it should be a great show.  and there's a sampler/compilation cd coming out very soon that features my song "home to me," but it's only being used for promotional purposes so it won't be available to buy.

i don't have much to say and i definitely don't like talking about my personal life here but i am no longing living in york, pa.  it is a horrible city.  the music scene is dead (it always has been) and most of the citizens of york are not good people.  so i am completely disassociating myself with that city.  and due to medical reasons i can't make it to the show in philly this weekend and i am going to cancel the show at sparky & clark's.  that is all for now.

a lot's been going on in the past few weeks.  i've been getting some very excellent reviews so check them out in the links section.  i have a show coming up on saturday at some school that's just outside of philly.  it was supposed to be in philly but it got moved.  oh well.  my account with isound has this cool feature that can convert your songs into ringtones so you can set the first 30 seconds of "home to me," "all i have" or "don't steal my heart away" as your ringtone.  and to any fans overseas, there's a company called music ghost that's located in the uk and they're selling my cd through their site.  so order from them if you don't live in the states.  the new songs i've been working on are really coming along nicely.  they have a different feel and sound than my other songs and i'm hoping to have something posted in the next month or so.

in the past month or so since the last update there are some new things going on.  there's this coffee house in bel air, md that has open mike every thursday night that i've been at the last two weeks.  it's a very nice atmosphere and usually really good music too.  there are some pictures posted from last thursday.  i started working on my next album and i should have maybe a song or two posted in the next couple months, but the cd probably won't be released until much later this year.  the whole project is still in its baby stages so there's not a whole lot more to say about it.  i have a show coming up at the end of february  at sparky & clark's in york, and i signed up with isound so you can stream some songs from their sight.  i think that's it for now, but i'll try to update more often.

it's been a while.  but nothing new has happened.  the shows in november went well.  my good friends kenny and josh (from the durham based band van dyke brown) backed me up on bass and drums for the show in chapel hill.  there are a few new links including an online radio station has added "home to me" and "don't steal my heart away" into its rotation.  i guess that's it.

not a whole lot to say.  i have a few more shows coming up so check out the tour section.  in particular, there's a red cross benefit show on sep 30.  it's $5 for five bands and all the money goes to support the victims of hurricane katrina.  so it's for a very good cause.

people make typos all the time.  i don't think i've ever read a book without at least a few typos.  and i make typos a lot too.  there are probably a couple on this site even.  but earlier today someone pointed out that there was a typos on my upcoming cd.  one of the song titles was spelled wrong.  and it was an obvious mistake but somehow i overlooked it every time.  they say everyone needs an editor.  i think i'll be able to fix it by oct 04 but it's going to be an expensive mistake to fix.  i'm still playing in york tomorrow but don't expect me to have any cds.

okay.  well, i was living in des moines and around the beginning of spring i moved to york, pa to work on this cd i've been recording.  it was a temporary move because that's where all my recording equipment is.  i had every intention of moving back to des moines after the cd was finished.  but now, i don't think that's going to happen.  it's not that york is so great that it lured me back, it's more like it's a lot easier and cheaper living here.  but i guess it doesn't matter too much where i live since i plan to be on the road a lot.  so with this, i modified the bio, and about the cd, it's nearly finished but i pushed the release date back a few weeks.

the cd is almost finished.  all of the actual recording is done but it still has to be mixed.  i'm going to remix the first set of songs too which i originally thought was finished ("home to me" included).  one of the reasons for all the setbacks is that i added another song, "the best i can".  at first i thought this song wasn't good enough to be on the cd, but i changed it around a little and it started to grow on me.  it's not going to be the hit of the album but i think it's definitely good enough to be on it.  also i decided on a release date of september 6, not that it matters a whole lot.  it's going to be an independent release so the cd's not going to be distributed through any stores but it's still good to have a set release date.  also i modified the site and the contact section.  i guess that's all for now.  i'm really tired.

hey.  there's been a whole lot of nothing going on which means no progress on the album.  actually i'm going to rerecord some of what i thought was finished so it feels like i'm moving backwards.  i did finally get my pure volume site activated so you can go there and stream home to me.  but unfortunately there's nothing there that isn't here or at my space.  new music/mp3s coming soon.  i promise.

the cd i've been working on is barely coming along.  i've decided that it will be self titled just because i can't think of anything better to call it, and i posted what i believe will be the final track listing in the music section.  i'm almost finished the first set of songs and i should have an mp3 of one of them posted by the next update.  because of how long everything's taking so far, i'm starting to think i'll be working on this cd until the middle of june.  oh, and i added links to my sites that are hosted by my space and pure volume.  check them out if you're as bored as i am.

welcome to the official site.  i just bought the domain a yesterday and i've been working on the design and layout all day.  since i'll be making and updating this website myself, this is about as fancy as it will get.  i like it though.  anyway, there's a bio posted along with some contact info and a nice form.  a lot's going on right now so i'll try to keep everyone updated as much as possible.  i'm working on my first cd and it's coming along okay.  there will be mp3s, album art and a track listing posted here as soon as i have any of those things.  i don't have a scheduled release date yet but i hope to soon.  you can read more about the cd in the music and bio sections.  pictures, tour dates and links coming very soon.
